Arcoplate is Proven to Reduce Hangup
Hang up is a problem experienced where material binds to part
or all of a section of the fixed plant (or mobile plant), limiting
the flow of material as the build up increases. In severe situations
section(s) of plant will need to be closed down for extended periods
of time to remove the restrictions caused by the hang up. Hang
up is also experienced in mobile plant, such as P&H Dippers,
which effectively operate as chutes, with a door.

| Hang up is typically due to one or more
of the following reasons:
- Rough Surfaces - Rough surfaces on material selected.
Although the material may start off quite smooth, such
as HD Poly, they may soon end up gouged, scratched therefore
leading to many initiation sites for hang up to commence.
- Surface Features - Surface features such as, items
protruding out impeding on the material flow, whether
large or small either part of the wear plate or added
around the wear plate lead to hang up. Traditional clad
wear plate, has an uneven surface, along with many cracks,
leading to many initiation sites for hang up to commence
from the initial installation.
- Design - Design may be more of an influence where plant
is operating above the original flow rate through a given
area.
- Raw Materials - Changes in raw materials may drastically
affect whether hang up is a problem. The two most significant
factors appear to be: 1) Moisture content; 2) Clay Content.
(Hard rock mining where clay content is minimal, wear
resistance is of greater concern for wear plate selection
as hang up typically is not observed to any significant
degree even where an increase of moisture may be present.)
The Arcoplate Solution
Arcoplate is a viable solution to the first two points raised
above. Arcoplate is typically supplied in the mill finish
as it is already the smoothest thermo-clad plate on the
market. After a period of time the mill finish will be worn
back to reveal a smooth "mirror" finish. For extreme
hang up applications, Arcoplate can be polished prior to
delivery. The following attributes of Arcoplate assist
in minimising hang up:
- Dense, refined metallurgical structure giving an extremely
low coefficient of friction
- Resistance to indentation
- Microstructure limits extent of erosive attack
